Design projects
While engineers keep improving hyperloop technology, it's just as important to visualise it and imagine a future with a fully implemented hyperloop system. Since 2017, our design engineers have created many elements of the future hyperloop network, such as stations, interiors and even a hyperloop city. They also make the team's work visible through animations, VR experiences, models and videos. On this page, you can see what has been designed each year.

DH08 - Hyperloop airport integration (2024)
What if short-haul flights were replaced by the hyperloop, right at the airport? The design engineers of Delft Hyperloop VIII showed how a hyperloop station can be placed inside an airport. They built two maquettes at different scales, one of the station and one of how it fits into the airport, together with an animation of the passenger experience.
DH09 - Hyperloop cargo hub (2025)
Delft Hyperloop IX looked at the hyperloop for freight. The design engineers followed the journey of a package, from order to last-mile delivery, and designed a hyperloop cargo hub around it: a strategic location with connections to other modes of transport, lanes for cargo trucks, automated loading bays and a cargo pod designed for easy loading and unloading.
DH10 - A hyperloop city at a former airport (2026)
What happens when an airport is replaced by a hyperloop station and a new urban district? Airports take up huge amounts of land, comparable to the whole Amsterdam canal ring, while a hyperloop station needs only a fraction of that. The design engineers of Delft Hyperloop X designed a hyperloop city at the site of Brussels Zaventem Airport, told through four characters who each experience the city in their own way. At its heart lies the hyperloop station, connected to a European network of hyperloop cities.
