Delft Hyperloop

In September 2015, a group of students from the Delft University of Technology joined together and founded Delft Hyperloop. As Delft Hyperloop, we are developing a climate-neutral, scalable hyperloop system, becoming the fifth mode of transportation by reaching speeds over 1000 km/h.
Delft Hyperloop is known as a so-called Dream team from the Delft University of Technology. This means that Delft Hyperloop is a non-profit organization that exists to stimulate innovations. A Dream team consists of new people every year. All the progress which is made by the previous teams is transferred to the next. This structure is created to stimulate the development of as many students as possible. Every team member dedicates one year of their time and efforts to contribute to the innovation of the hyperloop and to focus on personal development.
From September 2026, we as Delft Hyperloop XI are working towards an exciting challenge: winning the European Hyperloop Week (EHW) that will take place in July 2027. We will build upon ten years of successful innovations and multiple great performances in the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition & the European Hyperloop Week.

TEN TEAMS, TEN PODS
Every year a completely new team of TU Delft students designs, builds and tests a hyperloop pod in one year. Each team builds on what the last one learned. This is how far that has taken us.
- 2017DH01 · Team I
36 students build one of the first hyperloop pods ever and win the first SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition in California.
- 2018ATLAS 01 · Team II
Second place at the SpaceX competition, with a top speed of 142 km/h.
- 2019ATLAS 02 · Team III
Over 200 km/h in less than 100 metres. Fourth place in the final SpaceX competition in Los Angeles.
- 2020ATLAS 04 · Team IV
With the SpaceX competition cancelled, the team sets a Dutch record of 360 km/h and releases the documentary Breaking Barriers.
- 2021DH05 · Team V
Co-organises the very first European Hyperloop Week in Valencia and wins the Mechanical and Scalability awards.
- 2022HELIOS I · Team VI
The first hanging levitation system. Best overall pod and the Innovation Award at the European Hyperloop Week.
- 2023HELIOS II · Team VII
Our first fully levitating pod, with a motor that had never been built before. Four awards in Edinburgh, including the Innovation Award.
- 2024HELIOS III · Team VIII
The first pod in the world to switch lanes in a scalable way. Three awards in Zurich.
- 2025THEIA · Team IX
A pod three times larger than the year before, and the first student team to test at the European Hyperloop Center in Veendam.
- 2026THEIA II · Team X
Moving cargo: a Euro pallet through the tube at the European Hyperloop Week in Veendam, with a pod built for endurance.

DELFT HYPERLOOP LEGACY
Delft Hyperloop has a large legacy with already 10 teams before us. They have laid the foundation to innovate on each year. To understand the story of our team and reflect on our challenges, it is important to understand where we come from. The 10 teams before us have innovated the hyperloop concept radically. It wouldn’t be without their hard work and innovation that we are able to present what we have planned for this year.
